The problem

Pulse's early prototype required too much precision from a sweaty thumb mid-set. Testers kept losing their place in a workout because logging a set took their full attention.

The approach

I redesigned the active-workout screen around large touch targets, one-tap set logging, and a rest timer that takes over the screen so there's nothing to misread. Everything else — history, programs, social — moved off the primary screen entirely.

The outcome

In testing, average time to log a set dropped by more than half, and the app now leads with the workout screen instead of a dashboard, which testers consistently said made it feel 'built for the gym, not for a desk.'

Result 58% faster set logging
