Flux — SaaS Onboarding Flow
First-run onboarding rebuilt around one outcome, not a tour of every feature.
The problem
Flux's onboarding was a seven-step product tour that explained every panel before a new user had done anything real. Most people closed it by step three and never came back to finish setup.
The approach
I cut the tour and replaced it with a single guided task: connect one data source and see one real chart. Everything else was moved to contextual tips that appear only when they're relevant, not up front.
The outcome
Activation — defined as a user seeing their own data rendered — happens far earlier in the first session, and the drop-off that used to cluster at step three is largely gone.
